Slingsby T31 Tutor ZK-GAU

History:

Built in 1956 for Tauranga Gliding Club

Sold to Whakatane GC in 1958 with 166 hrs and 1077 flights

1963 it had a "crash" landing on a fence and then got repaired at Airepairs, Hastings.

Sold to Ohakea GC in 1971 with 884 hrs and 4700 flights

Sold to Jevon Snowden in 1977 with 1400 hrs and 8666 flights

Given to Norfolk 2006 with a total of 1431 hrs and 8775 flights having last flown 1981.

ZK-GAU was restored to full flying status and achieved many enjoyable flights by members of Norfolk Aviation Sports Club, Taranaki, and members of Vintage Kiwi.

Sadly, due to rising operational costs, it was decided to put ZK-GAU on display in the Tauranga Aviation Museum for folk to admire and rekindle past memories of times gone by.
