T-31 Rescue

From Nick Wisnewski:
Just a quick update on a T-31 we at Norfolk are restoring. Jevon Snowden gave us ZK-GAU as a project. We hope to get it flying by the mini-rally at Norfolk at Labour weekend.

History:
bulletBuilt in 1956 for Tauranga Gliding Club
bulletSold to Whakatane GC in 1958 with 166hrs and 1077 flights
bullet1963 it had a "crash" landing on a fence and then got repaired at Airepairs, Hastings
bulletSold to Ohakea GC in 1971 with 884hrs and 4700 flights
bulletSold to Jevon Snowden in 1977 with 1400hrs and 8666 flights
bulletGiven to Norfolk 2006 with a total of 1431 hrs and 8775 flights
bulletLast flown 1981

Also we are about to get flying a Ka6, ZK-GEF, by Labour weekend. In a non-flying condition we have a Spatz, Skylark II, Skylark IV and a Bergfalke. If only we could get them all flying!
Cheers
Nick Wisnewski

Note from the editor:
The T-31 ZK-GAU is fully restored and flying again since 2007. It is part of the fleet at Norfolk Aviation Sports Club in Taranaki (North Island), and even aside an impressive fleet of five (yes 5!) flying Blaniks she might well be called the flagship, or if nothing else the big attraction, of the club.
Pictures below show the above mentioned Ka-6 CR, and pieces of the Sky-4.
