In addition to its two national annual rallies, Vintage Kiwi is encouraging the organising of local mini-rallies. If you would like to organise a mini-rally at your site, contact Ian Dunkley



Our rallies are our main membership event of the year when we meet to fly, discuss and plan our growing operation, and above all enjoy ourselves. We also find rallies are our best recruiting method, so non members are most welcome to attend. A lot has happened over the last years, we are gaining an international reputation, and have recently started to acquire our own vintage gliders. These gliders will, under conditions still to be finalised, be available to members to fly.
In addition to the main national rallies, one on the South Island and one on the North Island, there will be Mini Rallies over three-day holiday weekends. Easter and Labour Weekend Rallies have been held at Drury and Norfolk Road Taranaki, both on the North Island.
VK Rallies both large or small are typical family events, with plenty of alternative activities for kids and partners, and often organised outings like fishing trips, barbeques, hikes and what have you... The gathering of Vintage gliders, Vintage glider models and often Vintage towplanes like Tiger Moths as well, always make for good photo and video opportunities.
Rallies are usually held at existing airfields, but sometimes we try to "reinact" and fly of historic sites. Planned is an event at the historic site of Simon's Hill at Easter in the South . Others may be organised at short notice so watch our web site and also make sure you have given us your email address.

For those thinking about coming to a rally:  It would be very helpful to let us know if you are thinking of attending a rally. It would help if you also provide glider details etc and for what period you may be with us.  If you want to bring along syndicate members, or other pilots they will be welcome and suffer friendly persuasion. At Taupo there will be a rally fee of $30 for the week, for four days and over, $15 for three days or less. At Nelson things will be different with variable, but reasonable, fees that can take into account, accommodation, use of facilities and anything else we dream up.
