Glider Trailer Parking and Rigging Park
The glider trailers in the trailer park, or seek guidance from local members. Rig gliders close to or in front of the trailers. Keep trailers and gliders clear of the grass runway. Be aware of glider operations while rigging gliders.

Food
Some food sausages, bRead etc will be available on the airfield. A gas barbecue is available to cook sausages etc. at the club house. Home cookery and other food shops are located in Inglewood township.

DIRECTIONS TO AIRFIELD

Recommended Route to Norfolk Rd Airfield from Auckland.

Note: Stay on the main roads only. The roads through the forest are not sealed and not suitable for trailers.

  1. Take SH 1 south to Ngaruawahia
  2. After passing through Ngaruawahia township look for SH 31 on the RH side of the road. Service Station marks the intersection. Take SH 31 SOUTH to Otorohanga.
  3. At Otorohanga take right turn onto SH 3 SOUTH to Te Kuiti.
  4. At Te Kuiti the road forks, stay on SH 3 out to Awakino on the West Coast.
  5. Follow SH 3 down the coast until you come to Waitara.
  6. About 2 km past Waitara there is a Weigh Bridge on the RH side, this marks the point for the LH turn onto SH 3A.
  7. Turn LEFT onto SH 3A it should be sign posted to Inglewood and Stratford etc. [Note SH 3A is also known as Mountain Rd].
  8. Stay on SH 3 A for about 15 km you will pass the Inglewood boundary.
  9. At the crossroads just past the Forrestal Lodge turn RIGHT and cross the RAILWAY LINE.
  10. After CROSSING the RAILWAY LINE turn LEFT onto SH 3.
  11. SH 3 is the main road to Wellington. Stay on this road travelling south.
  12. Norfolk Rd is the third RH intersection on SH 3 from Inglewood township.
    NORFOLK RD IS MARKED BY THE NORFOLK RD HALL. AND ALSO MEDIAN STRIP MARKED IN THE CENTER OF THE ROAD.
  13. Turn RIGHT onto Norfolk Rd and continue for a short distance. The hangers should be visible on the Right Hand side.
  14. Go through the gate onto the airfield. Once through the gate follow the road to the left onto the wooden bridge. Do not try and cross the creek with the trailer, you will get stuck.

Recommended Route to Norfolk Rd Airfield from Wellington.

  1. Take SH 3 NORTH through Bulls, Wanganui on to Hawera.
  2. At Hawera SH 3 turns right, stay on SH3 to Stratford.
  3. Approx 15 km from Stratford. Look for Norfolk Rd on the left.

  4. Turn LEFT onto Norfolk Rd and continue for a short distance. The hangers should be visible on the Right Hand side.
